Hum Bom

without comments

But we scored you a clip of the man performing Hum Bom, an anti-war poem from 1971, updated for the first Gulf War in 1991. Hasn’t dated. What is it about war that politicians just don’t get bored of it? (You need Real Player to watch that clip, by the way.)

link - direct link to the video - link to the poem
Well you don’t really need Realplayer

I keep seeing how some things just don’t date, especially with regards war. It just, makes me sad.

War of the Worlds

without comments

With Tom Cruise being a little crazy, i just don’t think i’m going to be able to bring myself to go and see War of the Worlds. Well, the video doesn’t seem to be working for me, so i’m going on the Beeb’s slim coverage (!) with some gems -

“Psychiatry is a pseudo science,” he said.
“You don’t know the history of psychiatry. I do,” he added.

Tom seems to have won some people over (not really, that’s a joke on my part) -

but Cruise’s constant assertions about his superior knowledge of the history of psychiatry and its very, very devilish, pseudoscientific underpinnings has finally won us over. Repetition of the message really does work, and there is only one rational response to this incredible eye-opening: We’re headed to the nearest hospital to beat the living shit out of anyone wearing a labcoat. Yes, some of these people may be involved in “legitimate” fields

of medicine (Wait, are there any? We’re not completely sure what we believe, we’re still new at this), but we can’t take the chance that they might have come into contact with a bottle of Ritalin (a street drug) at some point and carelessly assigned a reckless, completely arbitrarily determined dosage to a 5-year-old boy with too much pep

link i quote it all, because it’s kind-of awesome. Anyway, there was some ITV thing on how great War of the Worlds is and Falconer(bad dress methinks) was on it (that irrelevant really) and i didn’t like it, the whole tone of, we should be grateful that Saint Spielberg is remaking something for us lowly people and well it doesn’t really need to be in Surrey, lets’s put it in America and Tom’s great and not at all short etc etc and Spielberg was selling it and talking about the situation of when Wells wrote it and i don’t know that much about it and he started talking about 11/9 and i had to get up because, well it made me angry, because well surely the current political climate didn’t start on that day. Anyway, i think i’ve just talked myself out of that film.

Anyway, i need to go to bed, because my brother’s phone is flashing and it’s bothering me.

Subscribe to the Flickr Moleskine tag if you use a aggregator because it keeps popping up cool, cool, cool stuff and stuff that appeals to me (iPod and Moleskine :) )

Colaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa

without comments

What i wouldn’t give for a cold glass of a Pepsi, or Coke, i’m no cola-drink fascist. It’s just a shame i’ve had that whiskey, else i might drive for some right now. I’ve just got the taste for it right now. Debit cards were designed for purchases of at least 80p at 2am in a deserted supermarket. I finished the supply in the house. The coldness is ESSENTIAL, it really is. It’s not the same else. And, i’m coming around from the fact that i am a former can-lover and am willing to admit bottles have their place in an open and decent society. Just need to drink it speedy. Otherwise it’s just not the same. Open, drink fast. Repeat.

farva
FARVA: Yeah ill have a uh liter of cola
BURGER GUY: What?
FARVA: A liter of cola!
BURGER GUY: Liter-O-Cola do we make liter-o-cola?
THORNE: Why dont you just order a large Farva?
FARVA: I don’t want a large Farva I want a goddamn liter of cola.
BURGER GUY: I don’t know what that is.
FARVA: Liter is french for give me some fuckin cola before I rip off your fuckin lips!!

hahahahahahahahahahaa that film is aweeeesoooommmmmmme.
