Macbook

Shiny shiny Macbook

So, it would appear i have switched. After i got around to working out how to install a programme (easier then i was making it), things have gone relatively smoothly so far. Was lucky that a Mac can read a PC formatted iPod without any trouble, so have sucessfully transfered all my music over to this computer (and can nicely control it using my handy remote). Have settled on aMSN for it’s Mac-PC MSN video capabilities, though haven’t been able to find some sort of voice and camera integration (Skype me if you have that - username chotoye). Of Cyberduck, a particulary nice ftp, Firefox,  I have discovered the wonder of command + H (hide programme) and command + Q to quit. Of F9 to show all on the desktop. Still getting used to the keyboard, it just seems the problem at the moment is the enter button - i keep hitting \ and i keep turning on caps lock when i mean to press a (i just did it then).

So, i love it so far, everything loads smoothly and i can have all sorts open and it’s no trouble.

Cheese Rolling

without comments

So, we went Cheese Rolling - purely to watch. First time i’d been actually. It was muddy and the pictures fail to show how dangerous it was… i mean,  how dangerous it was for the spectators. We had decided or maybe Adam had decided we should be at the top so, we climbed, scrambled up the side of the muddle hill to perch near the start. Joey’s apprehensiveness in this photo is purely because it’s so steep, it really was. You can see how fast the people go away. So we tried to get a reasonable footing and watched the people falling down the hill :)

A video is here, it’s not great really but you can get a sense of it!

also: Waking up at 5 and quite happily getting out of bed. Quite crazy, but it’s nearly nine and i’ve played some WoW and fair bit of poker, read the paper.

ALSO MY MACBOOK IS OUT FOR DELIVERY. OH YES PLEASE :)

i hate Bank Holidays.

without comments

Bank holiday can do one as far as i’m concerned. Take a running jump, borrow a gun off an American friend, etc whatever it takes.

My Macbook is in the country but because of BH won’t be coming till Wednesday.

Arghhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh :(

On a plus note, i quite like this lot (apologies for  linking to the community website) - ”
A captivating hybrid of 80’s electronica and aggressive guitars,”

i like the combination :)

So…

with 3 comments

It still hasn’t arrived and TNT have decided they don’t really want to update the tracking page and thus keep me in the dark (i jest, a little). But then, the doorbell goes. Can it be…. it might be. IT MIGHT IT MIGHT.

So, no it was just the Jehovah’s Witnesses.

1. Ways to dissuade them talking to you - wear pyjamas.

Also, Lost (watched the last 3 eps today), 24 (Tuesday) and Prison Break (Couple of weeks ago) are all finished for Seasons 2, 5 and 1 repspectively. Gutted.

Best ending, i’ll with 24, i like how it was more complete then the others. The whole incompletedness inherent in Lost and PB, Lost especially. Well; it’s just not me.

Seibei

without comments

Previously mentioned here and here (the search on Wordpress worked pretty well!).

So, my Intramural Zombie Hunter t-shirt came today! Front/Back . Which is quite woo! (Thank you Natasha :) ) Very happy with it, though mum isn’t of the same opinion, but mum it’s got hand prints in blood on! No persuading her unfortunately.

But wait, there’s more! More you ask. Yes i say, more.

Seems somehow, i name no names (i don’t need to, they’ve been named already), David at Seibei found out it was my birthday. So instead of there being one t-shirt in the package there was in fact two and a nice note wishing me a happy birthday! So, i got this one too (front)! It’s made my week! Thank you. Will send a proper card methinks. If only i knew where i’d left them. Hmmm.

MSN to Google Talk

without comments

Stumbled over this on the Digital Spy forums, some clever bod has found a way to import your MSN contacts into Google Talk. Now, i really like Google Talk (but MSN use is pretty ubiquitous to be honest), so the people i actually talk to on it are very few and far between. The client is relatively simplistic but it does what you want and they’ve introduced a few things like chat logs recently. The big thing it does is, it integrates into Gmail so you can chat away from your email account and it does it pretty well.

So the process is gone through here (it’s relatively straightforward, i thought so anyway) and i can now chat away to everyone via Google Talk. And even better is, the fact that i can talk to them from my Gmail account aswell. AWESOMENESS.

That is all, i’m going to have a bath now!

Weekend.

without comments

So, they’ve only gone and shipped my Macbook - eta approx one week. Expect visits to the tracking page to increase exponentionally over the next week. (2.0Ghz, 1 Gig ram and 80 Gig Hd, Superdrive).

<breathes>

This remix of the original A Scanner Darkly trailer. The book is good too, quite heavy going but well worth putting the time in for (can be borrowed on request - will post :) ). I like the style of the animation too.

The film Red Eye - rubbish. I wasn’t feeling the suspense at all and the number of plot holes. Anyway, don’t watch it. Move on you’re life will be better for it.

Have switched profiles and Firefox opens at least 20 times faster. Now to work out which extensions are doing it and whether i need them. Have so far installed Adblock Plus, Adblock Filterset.G updater (keeps adblock updated) and Performancing (from which i write this, best the Wordpress effort comfortably if only for the fact that it saves an entry if i close it and then open it again). Maybe add the del.icio.us extension soon.

Friday was good (if expensive), some strawberry beer, Jon in a suit, a very pretty barmaid in The Retreat a nice prawn sagwalla (both with two drunken, swearing Dutch ladies, some old school people, girlfriends, staying out late and doing some dancing). All in all, pretty good actually.

So, yes my Macbook has shippied.
