You know….
It’s a bad idea to put things in a safe place but still you do it. As is the way with these things - i don’t know why i thought it would be a good idea to put my memory card in with my bookmark.
I just did some pilates today. After which i feel much better (posture is better as is generally feeling more relaxed).
Today i supervised 5 year olds with a small saw. :)
Update thing.
Seriously, i’ll plunder my tasty links if i want.

My conversion to Mac continues relatively smoothly, hot corners is my new favourite thing is the active screen corners. For example throwing my mouse into the top right give me all open windows for example -imagine everything you have open on the screen (iTunes, Firefox, MSN, Word) and is something that is becoming second nature. Everything is still on the dock/tastbar and i can still command-tab, it’s just convenient somehow. As is; bottom left for all active windows for a particular programme. At the moment it just seems like i’m still using a PC really, i’ve not delved that deep so far in terms of managing all my files and altering setting and what not. Hmm.
My first two days in school have been good so far - to a degree it’s been much as it has been when i’ve been volunteering in the past but I’ve started going through more things in terms of planning and carrying things through. Which is all good. Have been warned off teaching (they were joking, right?) a few times so far. And am looking forward to ‘putting my life on hold for 10 months’. The planning (yearly, termly, weekly and individual lesson plans) has me coming out in cold sweats (i think to start with (and that’s disregarding the PGCE itself) it’s going to be incredibly hard) but for that some of the little things more then balance it out - some of the stuff the 5 year olds can do in numeracy and literacy is pretty amazing.
Also, the pretty blonde girl from NEWPORT who was getting her PASSPORT (do capitals add search engine optimization?) has ruined my new book. The two are inter-linked. </loser> Damnit. Notes on how to detach said link gratefully recieved…
teaching
Waiting for something feels like forever doesn’t it? Except when you’ve finished waiting and wish you could have that time back.
First day of school today (for two weeks at least), which will be my longest period in so far. Perhaps where in the past i would have been anxious, right now i can’t wait. I really can’t. The thing that perhaps is bothering me the most though, what am i going to wear :/
Passported.
So from handing in my passport application to getting my passport took a little over 2 hours, though i was too engrossed in reading The Time Traveller’s Wife, so that time could have been a little less. Which is pretty good (though we’ll conveniently ignore the extra cost) and i am thoroughly pleased with the whole affair. If i lived near Newport, £20 extra for a week turn around isn’t so bad really.
Anyway, the girl with the blonde curls who was in the passport office and then sat just off to my right in Starbucks (chai tea latte + muffin). She was lovely she was and of course she sat in that place on purpose. It’s my fault right?! Ha.
Work
Not really had any inclination to write about my work for all number of reasons, but anyway, today was my last day. Well technically it was but in theory not so much. Due in part to my being on a variable contract for the last year and half, so while i’m leaving i’m still on the books as it were, it’s just i’m cutting my hours somewhat - if zero is somewhat.
It’s been a long year and a half and it’s had its ups (setting up weddings at 3am with the iPod blaring) and it’s had its lows (70 + hour weeks, though that’s not as sounds because i went to work 8 days in a row, finishing at 12 and having to be back for 7 is just RUB-BISH) but for all the 12 hour shifts, anything less isn’t a proper shift anyway, i’ve met some lovely people and had some great times.
Anyway now, getting up is a little bit easier and my organisational skills have gone through the roof so it’s all good.
(i don’t have the impetus to write more coagently/structured)
So it’s done but it doesn’t feel like it at the moment. It’s not like i had to hand in my notice or owt (it was a case of, on this day of this month i need 3 months off and i might not come back). So we shall see how it pans out, though i will go back occasionally for the benefits, naturally.
So now, 2 weeks and 2 days in two schools as part of the condition of me getting a place at Worcester, 5 weeks in Mauritius then back to uni. With 2 weddings in that time. One British/Christian and another Mauritian/Muslin. Which should be quite interesting, will perhaps do something on that.
Off now.
Passports
So we fly on the 12th July. So, i have a passport. It’s just that i hadn’t checked its expiry date until today. It just hadn’t occured to me it wasn’t something i’d thought about. So i was looking for some Pritt Stick and i happened across my passport and i for whatever reason chose to look at the expiry date.
And i look at it and it says 9th July 2006.
<brain calculations>Wait a minute </brain calculations>
Oooops. Long story short i’m on my way to Newport for an 8am meeting on Friday. It’s no fun if it’s not exciting right?
