Chain-shopping
So, I went for a walk on Thursday. Mostly because I could myself idling, not really achieving much sat at home and because I really fancied a can of Coke. So, i plugged my headphones in and walked up the road to the shops. This time though, I made a point of going to the local shop and the man took my can of Coke and chocolate bar and worked out in his head how much it cost.
Anyway, it got me to thinking if I could go a week without buying something from a chain shop. Everything, food, petrol (could be tricky), clothes etc. So, because I don’t have enough things I really want to be doing anyway. I’m going to give it a go, starting today. I bought some food from a local shop and had coffee in a cafe that wasn’t Starbucks.
Things that I’ve noticed so far:
- Some things are cheaper, the eggs I bought definitely were.
- Some things are more expensive – no stores-own brands.
- Less choice, I’ll need to be more aware of what I want to buy. I quite often go to ASDA and wander around as I remember things I need.
Though I want to go swimming tomorrow and I need some trunks…
