77.8, 23.1, 12.3

Things I learnt today:

  • I weigh 77.8kg (a little over twelve stone)
  • My BMI is about 23.1 (25 is overweight – vaguely pleased with this. It means that my body is throwing the values off. Muscle is heavier then fat so skews the results.)
  • My body fat % is 12.3.
  • I love calamari

I’m a little proud that I’m currently this fit and slim. It was never really the plan, it’s just a side effect of all the exercise I’ve been doing. It’s been lots of British Military Fitness as well as bouldering and occasional jaunts around the peaks (which have turned into a whole lot of running). Which are types of exercise that emphasise a lean body type – which is what I’ve ended up with.

Before today, I was considering having a really healthy month next month. Partly as a challenge, partly as a reason to cut out some of the processed food I eat (largely for convenience) and partly to look better. You see there’s this vanity that has kicked in in the last few months. I wouldn’t say I’m obsessed but definitely aware of how I look and how what I do affects that. Not that it has really impacted on what I do to be honest, I’ve just sort of carried on as normal.

Anyway, turns out my body fat % is actually pretty decent and I think that my head is convincing me I need to change when I don’t really need to – no harm in eating a bit healthier but I don’t really need to. I mean, I did give serious thought to ‘MensHealthingIt’ and joining the gym but in the end plumped for a months membership to the bouldering centre in town instead. I’m pretty sure all this focus on exercise is a distraction technique. It gives me something to focus on that isn’t the things that bother me.

I’ve forgotten what my point was.

Today I ate steak, brocolli, tomatoes and an awesome garlic-butter smothered portebello mushroom and then snacked on carrot and houmous.
