10 from 10: Blogs and Websites.
I had an idea I would share some of my favourite 10 blogs/websites. Then I thought I could call it 10 from 10! Clever huh? After, I realised that I had spoken to JH about my 10 favourite songs of the year and whether either of us would put them in our blogs. So i may try and think of 10 things from the year. May… So, I’ll start with blogs and websites and make no apologies for it – partly because it’s not really 2010 to be honest. What you going to do?
- Reddit – Discovered it after all the ruckus with Digg’s upgrade. Anyway, I know spend a whole lot of time just surfing it for interesting links. It’s full of memes and it’s the internet so it’s full of men being massive idiots BUT there’s all sorts of good stuff about it. It’s full of funny, amazing stories, good advice and people being awesome to complete strangers.
- Philosphistry – He only blogs occasionally and it’s very America-centric but is constantly interesting thoughts about a range of topics.
- Mnmlist – When I started thinking about minimalism a lot at the start of the year I followed too many blogs, I eventually cut them down to just two. Mnmlst was one of them, it’s concise and short and thought-provoking. Lots of minimal-themed blogs are just a bit too much. Such a thing as too much ‘good’ advice and they can tend to feel, well preachy. This one doesn’t. The other was…
- Simplicity by Sunny – Someone who dropped it all and started living minimally. I mean, she took to extremes but then I think that’s why I quite like reading her blog. I like reading her blog and thinking that one day I might just do the same thing, maybe…
- Approach Anxiety – (‘def. that overwhelming fear you get when you go to approach a beautiful woman.’) The pictures are rubbish but I like the advice generally – it’s what I need. I mean, i read it and then pointedly fail to do any of it and I appreciate it can feel like it’s about playing games but that’s just the way it is isn’t it?
- Chicken Yoghurt – My one political blog, I find I rarely disagree with his point of view.
- Better Than Fine – A Tumblr of couples. It’s just cute and someone makes me feel happy and not sad.
- Breaking More Waves – My one music blog. Most of the new music I’m listening to this year is because it was posted there first, Hurts and Crystal Castles especially. I never seem to get around to finding other music blogs and honestly I don’t remember how this one ended up in my feed reader but hes posts lots of music I really like.
- Daily Mail – FOR THE GOSSIP. FOR. THE. GOSSIP. Honest!
- This column will change your life – A column by Oliver Burkeman about all sorts of interesting things related to mental wellbeing. I like this one, it makes me think about things in a good sort of way.
That’s it and I know I just got bored of writing towards the end but well, I’m watching BBC4 for the about the 3rd time this week and am a bit unsure of myself.
