Engage
I’ve countless ‘resolutions’, just like everyone else. Fitter, happier, more productive and all that. But I’ve always thought those are things to start now, or tomorrow? Why do we need to wait until the end of the year? In any case, time is continuous anyway, life goes on right? So starting today would have been no different to starting yesterday etc. Isn’t it a definite point, a cut off to try and start afresh?
It’s like how I really like how Rob does his 12 line annual review but I started mine and well, honestly it drudged up the facts I didn’t really like and so I stopped. Anyway, it was also because I don’t really like putting things into years when really, the most recent section of my life started with moving to Manchester.
Anyway, the point of this blog was that I have lots of resolutions like:
- go to more gigs
- to spend more time talking
- less time online (and to use the time I am actually doing something (anything!))
- work harder (to be more productive I think, more focused)
- to make my bed every morning
- to put my keys, phone, iPod, wallet in the same place
- to be tidier (I feel like it’s either tidy or ‘robbed’ at the moment)
But I think that lots of these come under the idea that I would just be happy to engage more. In my head that means talking more, going and doing things and not hanging around in my own room (and my own head so much) even if it’s just sitting down and just watching t.v. with my housemates. So that. I feel like it ties everything else up in too, just doing things. Making cakes or cooking or *whispers* tidying or writing a postcard going to a friends or walking to the shops. All that sort of stuff.
I think, that’s it one thing I can concentrate on. It has no particular target or goal. It’s an ongoing thing that I can work on if I can (and I can).
Yes, so that’s it. I’m going for a hot chocolate.

One response to Engage
The 12 line review provides a means for me to gloss over the crappier bits of my life – I’ve not mentioned upsetting things (with a notable exception in 2010) because well, I’d rather record the good stuff that happened. I think I could do a ‘dark’ version, although it might not work so well on a month-by-month basis.
I also need most of the items on your list up there, but 1, 7 and 8 the most.
And obviously 4, seeing as I am commenting on your blog at 00:45.
