The simple act of paying attention can take you a long way.

We talked about this a bit in class today, sort of. How listening is important. It’s also a difficult skill that we assume we can do when in fact, sometimes or at least quite often, we’re really not doing as well as we think.

Are you really listening to someone, or are you looking out the window or thinking about checking your phone? I said to the children that I would listen to them if they listened to me. It’s hard though, I’m trying to listen but also to make sure everyone else is and considering if we’ve got enough time to lunch to finish a task.

Which isn’t to say those are excuses. Just that I need to worked harder at it.
