Pick it up.
Worked on my overhead squat. Rach helped me with some technique and 40kg felt fine. I am pleased by this.
Then we did… (Did the cluster at 17.5kg)
15 burpee box jumps (24?/20?)
15 dumbell clusters (20kg/10kg)
30 sit ups
12 burpee box jumps (24?/20?)
12 dumbell clusters (20kg/10kg)
24 sit ups
9 burpee box jumps (24?/20?)
9 dumbell clusters (20kg/10kg)
18 sit ups
Dumbell cluster = squat clean then thruster. So, pick both dumbells up to shoulders, squat with them then stand and raise them above your head. In practice you try to do this as smoothly as possible. Pick up dumbells, stand up, straight down into a squat then straight up and extend arms over your head.
The clusters were tough, both physically and mentally. As a lot of Crossfit is. In just 10minutes you get to decide how hard you want to push yourself, how much you are willing to give and how long you are going to pause before you start again. I think that’s part of why Crossfit suits some people better then others. It suits me because I want to be better. I want to be challenged. I want to get to the end and think ‘I gave that everything’.
At the moment, it’s something that I’m very aware of. Could I have worked harder? Especially on the lifts. I am trying to make a conscious effort to pick the barbell up quicker. Just pick it up.
