Crossfit, meditation.

Sometimes I meditate and other times I Crossfit.

Shutting out the other thoughts -
I can’t do this
I have so much work on
Not enough time
What am I having for tea

Stopping.

Focusing.

A single thing. A single breath. A single exercise.

Breathing in, breathing out. Watching your breath. Being mindful of it.

Letting thoughts go.

Then at Crossfit. Stepping up to the bar. Taking a breath. Picking it up, cleaning it, squatting with it, pushing it over your head. Taking another breath. Willing yourself to do it again, again.

Coming out.

Calmer. Clearer. More aware of who you are.

(There’s that moment mid-way through a workout. You’ve picked the bar up, lifted it then dropped it back down. Someone cheers you on. You stare at the far will. Your mind is clear. All you can think about is picking it up again. Sure you’re out of breath. That last rep was hard but in that moment all you can think is that you are going to pick it up again. It’s all that matters. Isn’t that why sport (and meditation) is great. It takes you out of the world for a time. Forces you to focus everything you have on a single thing. Makes you realise what you’re capable of.)
