Shattered.

Having been doing the qualifying wods for a competition next year (London Throwdown). Are they harder then things we do normally? Maybe, maybe not. Except you have to have someone watch you do it. Making sure all the reps are to the standard. It’s made it different, more intense and while having someone there makes you work harder it also takes more out of you.

I did the third WOD tonight. 100 double unders, 30 knees to elbows/pull up combos, 30 hang squat snatch at 35kg (hold bar in wide grip resting against thighs, bend down, lift bar in air so it’s overhead, squat down all in one movement, then stand up) and finish with 100 more double unders.

It’s this last one, I’ve been thinking about it a lot. I don’t like double unders. I find them difficult and while I’m improving, the going is slow. It’s frustrating more then anything else. The thought of doing 200 has been bothering me but I backing down wasn’t really an option.

So. I got through them, slowly. Combinations of 1s and 2s with single skips in between. I estimated I did an additional 200 skips, minimum. So maybe 400 + skips in all. That said, the knees to elbow and pull ups were ok, worked through them.

The hang squat snatch however, I positively enjoyed. The weight was just enough and I took longer then I could of but I preferred to work through them. Set myself on the bar. Take a breath. Confidence boosted. So pleased with how it went.

I think rest day tomorrow.

(Or until my new skipping rope and gym rings come!)
