A list
- BOASAS - Boy on a stick and slither
- This t-shirt
- Summer Heights High - Switched over to this on BBC3, the first minute or so we were thinking, is this real? No, it is not.
- Screenwipe - Some of the stuff from the first episode is gold, some of the latter bits fell a bit flat I thought.
- (Accidentally) buying non-alcoholic cider and still getting asked for I.D. (Review: Not actually that bad, tastes almost identical to the alcoholic stuff.)
- World Record Base Jump - Wow.
- This photo
Look at my list!
Things I keep meaning to write about.
- My merino from Howies - worth every penny
- OFSTED - ‘light touch’, it’s not
- Parent’s evening - Not so bad, some issues
- Facebook - love/hate
Things I was thinking in the shower
I hope in the new season of The Office, Michael isn’t such an idiot. You can hope.
I really like the Mystery Jets album
I forgot to turn my alarm off AND (conjunction, we’ve been doing those) I left it in the lounge. So I had to get up and out to turn it off at 6am.
Should I have the pizza from the fridge for breakfast? it’s a battle, healthy or pizza?!
I dreamt I was in Burn Notice (I just prefer American tv)
I’m going to do some work today so I can have tomorrow off, off the top of my head (planning, phonics, groups).
(This isn’t going to come out as a list, but it is.)
New music
Well, to start with. All the music on my iPod I don’t listen too. Shuffle has been a revelation.
Hypemachine - it aggregates music blogs. Still working it out but their radio, plays random songs and is nice for a change. Glass Candy - Candy Castle
My new radio. I mean it’s just different to listening to it on the computer (not really a fan). Golden Silver - Arrows of Eros
Bonus - http://hypem.com/track/623174/MGMT-Kids+(Soulwax+Nite+Version)+(256k) - which is amazing. Please give it 45 seconds of your time.
Currently have Does it Offend You Yeah? - Dawn of the Dead on repeat. It was played on 6Music this morning.
The one song on the album you play over and over.
- Manchester Orchestra - Now that you’re home
- Tokyo Police Club - Tessellate
- Katy Perry - Fingerprints (Ha)
- MJ Cole - Crazy Love
- Kate Havnevik - Sleepless
- Vampire Weekend - I stand corrected
- The National - Brainy
- The Refused - New noise
- Finch - Letters to you
- In Flames - Dead end
The secret of getting ahead is getting started
The secret of getting ahead is getting started. The secret of getting started is breaking your complex overwhelming tasks into small manageable tasks, and then starting on the first one. Mark Twain
Don’t really do lists. I can’t decide if I should. I find I tend to write things down that I need to do, then promptly lose the Post It I wrote it on. I tried writing it down in a small notebook but I had the same problem as the Post Its, I’d put it down and then it’d be gone. Computers are a no go, not in the classroom. I did try writing things on one of my whiteboards, but the habit didn’t stick really. Plus it’s a bit ‘obvious’.
Anyway, I wrote that because of this lists website http://www.listopia.co.uk/ - which you can share and edit and do list things on. It currently has ‘pun-tacular’ tribute names Faux Fighters, Samey Winehouse, Vanessa Parody!
Also this nice and simple to do list website - http://www.nowdothis.com/. Which you write a list of things to do, then tick them off one by one. Possible to put it in your sidebar (if you use Firefox). I quite like it.
See also Lifehacker.
(I opened all those links in one window then moved to another to do other things, so I had them all the same place. Then opened ScribeFire in the other window, so had to go back anyway. Genius.)
It’s raining here.
We popped down to the beach for a swim at about 5ish. It was lovely, really really lovely. The funny thing is, all the Mauritians we know complain the sea is too cold to go in at the moment… hahahahahahahahahahahaa
(I just noticed I have a list category. Fancy that.)
Remix
“On Friday, June 27th, I filmed Karen Abad ‘tap dubbing’ a guy who was actually tap dancing in the Subway.”
Don’t Nobody Speak to Me No More from Jason A on Vimeo.
And now there’s remixes, which are short and quite well done.
I have a headache. I can’t decide why. It’s either 1. not drinking enough water, 2. Not enough sleep, 3. Too much healthy food.
M
Lately I have been listening to bands beginning with M
1. Mew - I first heard of them when I was in Mauritius, my cousin had a magazine where they were mentioned. I wrote down their website and I still have the paper somewhere. So Copenhagen via Mauritius. Behind the Drapes. Though there’s 3 or 4 tracks on And the Glass Handed Kites that play almost as one - they’re all quite good.
2. Metric - Monster Hospital - Saw them supporting Bloc Party and really liked them. Though I heard that one song on MTV2 when we used to have Sky. Also new Gladiators isn’t great. The audience is tiny. It’s just nostalgia I feel.
3. The Manchester Orchestra - Now that you’re home. The last minute of that song is AWESOME.
4. M83 - I forgot why I’ve got this. French apparently. America. I was going to say I don’t know how to describe it, this reviewer clearly loves it - “For fifty-seven glorious minutes, its impossibly intricate tapestry of buzzing techno synthesizers, distorted electric guitars, cheesy drum machines, and subdued vocals generate a sense of bodily movement through a landscape of beauty, disappointment, glory, and decrepitude. Dead Cities not only envelops you, but also affords you room to explore its vast expanse.” Plus the album starts
Sun is shining
Birds are singing
Flowers are growing
Clouds are looming and I am flying
Which I just like.
5. Mark Lanegan - Resurrection Song. I got the album from Marie a long time ago. It’s just sort of laid bay, mellow ish. The album is awesome too.
Don’t you dare dispute Mark Lanegan, iTunes says it’s M so it is.
